Fuel Power Cell Technology for Lunar Rover -Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment

When will the Earth use battery technology for lunar rovers -Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment

Toyota said it would develop a six wheel autonomous lunar rover using hydrogen fuel cell technology with the Japanese Space Agency. It plans to send the rover to the moon in 2029 to explore water resources on the moon.

The rover will use solar cells and fuel cells to produce and store energy. It will be launched in advance before astronauts land on the moon. After astronauts land on the moon, the rover will use automatic driving technology to greet astronauts.(Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment)

Due to the different environment between the moon and the earth, the hydrogen fuel cell technology applied to the lunar rover will be more complex than that on the earth. It is necessary to increase the storage system of oxygen and water, as well as the solar system, to keep the vehicle working normally on the moon.

When will hydrogen fuel cell vehicles be available on Earth?

The hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, in short, is to use the fuel cell stack to allow hydrogen and oxygen to conduct chemical reaction to generate electric energy, and then transmit the electric energy to the motor or energy storage battery to provide power for the vehicle. Compared with traditional fuel vehicles, they are very environmentally friendly, and only water is produced as the "exhaust". For the current pure electric vehicles, it can provide a more similar experience to the traditional fuel vehicles. The "refueling" can be completed in 3 minutes, and hydrogen can be added. The range can also be similar to that of fuel vehicles.

Although compared with pure electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles have sufficient endurance and fast hydrogenation; Compared with traditional fuel vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles have the property of energy conservation and emission reduction. However, it will be 5-10 years before people on earth use hydrogen fuel cell vehicles universally, because these problems need to be solved urgently:

1. On board hydrogen storage technology

For the same weight, the energy density of hydrogen is not low. However, gasoline and diesel are liquids under natural conditions. To compress hydrogen into liquids and ensure safety, a large hydrogen storage system is required, which makes transportation difficult.

2. Fuel cell life

Fuel cell is an extremely complex device, which is far more complex than lithium battery and internal combustion engine. The current technology can reach 5000 hours of service life, barely meeting the sales demand, but it is far away from fuel vehicles.

3. Infrastructure construction of hydrogen refueling station

At present, pure electric vehicles are facing the infrastructure problem of inconvenient charging, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles cannot escape, even more serious. The hydrogen fuel cell vehicle can not add hydrogen at home, and can only rely on the hydrogen refueling station; At present, the cost of hydrogen refueling station is very high.

How is the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in various countries?

At present, there are more than 5000 fuel cell vehicles on the road in the United States, and nearly 40 hydrogen refueling stations are started and running. It is planned to have 200 hydrogen refueling stations by 2025.

There are 139 hydrogen refueling stations in operation in Europe, with the number of hydrogen refueling stations ranking first in the world. Germany alone plans to build nearly 400 hydrogen refueling stations by 2030.

South Korea plans to have 630000 fuel cell vehicles by 2030.

The inventory of fuel cell vehicles set up in Japan is expected to be 800000 by 2030, and 320 hydrogen refueling stations will be built by 2025.

China has completed the construction of 12 hydrogen refueling stations in 2018. It is estimated that there will be 1 million fuel cell vehicles in 2030.

Will pure electric vehicles continue to develop?

He Mijun believes that the development of pure electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles does not contradict each other. There is no question of who will replace whom. The development of fuel cell vehicles is ten years later than that of electric vehicles.

In terms of the development of pure electric vehicles, the number of pure electric vehicles in China alone in 2018 has reached 2.61 million, which can be said that pure electric vehicles have begun to be accepted by people.

However, in actual use, there are still pain points in charging that need to be solved urgently to further popularize pure electric vehicles.

Taking the Spring Festival of this year as an example, in order to serve the travel of more than 11,000 Ulai ES8 vehicles during the Spring Festival, in addition to relying on the basic charging pile facilities, Ulai has provided more than 13,000 door-to-door power on services and more than 3000 power change services. Such service costs are far higher than the fuel vehicles we currently use.
