Recycling main body is missing

According to the characteristics of power batteries and the principle of recycling, my country currently advocates the principle of first-level utilization of retired power batteries before they are scrapped and recycled, and requires OEMs to take the responsibility for power battery recycling as the main body of power battery recycling. Recycling technology bottleneck to be broken

Due to its large size and complex composition, the recycling and reuse of power batteries faces many limitations and high technical thresholds.

Due to the large differences in the types, specifications, and processes of retired batteries, and the diversity of series and parallel group forms, application models, use times and working conditions, the dismantling is complicated. At the same time, my country has not issued a unified standard for power batteries, and it is still difficult to use it on a large scale.

From the point of view of recycled batteries alone, even lithium batteries have various cathode materials. The mainstream ones are lithium cobalt oxide, lithium manganate, lithium nickel cobalt manganate, lithium iron phosphate, etc. The metal oxide is extracted by leaching with acid-base solution and then through various chemical procedures. However, the extraction conditions of the components of these oxides are different, and the mixture is more difficult.

Recycling mode uncertain

Despite a difficult start, the prospects are generally optimistic in the industry. Overall, the current large-scale "retirement tide" of power batteries has not yet arrived, and it is difficult to form a large-scale effect for the dismantling and recycling of power batteries.

For example, some car companies choose to cooperate with other companies to jointly promote domestic power battery recycling and other related matters. Changan, BYD, Yinlong New Energy and other 16 vehicle and battery companies have reached cooperation with China Tower, a major power battery recycling company, to solve problems such as recycling and reuse of retired power batteries.

In addition to vehicle companies, battery manufacturers have also actively explored this. Ningde Times, AVIC Lithium Battery, BAK Battery, Guoxuan Hi-Tech and other companies have established battery recycling networks and began to deploy power battery recycling business. There are also institutional forecasts. , the power battery recycling market will form a new "air outlet" of 10 billion yuan. This is also the reason why, in addition to car companies, battery companies, and raw material recycling companies, capital is also aggressively entering this field, and they are also seeking new opportunities in this field.
