Ganfeng Lithium said it is currently conducting extensive test work on solid-state batteries, setting up a research and development center and a pilot production line in Ningbo to accelerate the commercialization of solid-state lithium battery technology. At present, the company's solid-state lithium battery is still in the experimental stage, but has passed a number of third-party safety tests.

On March 18, the first phase of the single large-capacity solid-state polymer power lithium battery project invested and constructed by Fujian Tendering and Procurement Group was officially put into production. This power lithium battery has recently passed the authoritative inspection and testing. The 10.5-meter pure electric bus equipped with the power lithium battery pack was tested last month, and it can safely run more than 410 kilometers on a single charge.

Power lithium battery is a key core component of new energy vehicles. According to the requirements of the "Technical Roadmap for Energy Saving and New Energy Vehicles", by 2020, the energy density target of pure electric vehicle power lithium batteries is 300Wh/kg, 400Wh/kg in 2025, and 500Wh/kg in 2030.

Compared with liquid lithium batteries, solid-state lithium batteries have the advantages of good safety performance, high energy density and long cycle life. Judging from the current situation, BYD, Zhongtian Technology and other companies have all carried out layouts in the field of solid-state lithium batteries.

In December 2017, Ganfeng Lithium announced that it planned to invest no more than 250 million yuan in the construction of a pilot production line for the first-generation solid-state lithium battery research and development. According to the plan, in December 2018, the first-generation solid-state lithium battery production line of 100 million watt-hours will achieve sample delivery; in December 2019, sales of 300 million yuan will be completed, and the second-generation solid-state lithium battery technology is mature.

In November 2017, Yicheng New Energy announced that it planned to acquire 70% of the equity of Henan Pingmei Guoneng for 70 million yuan, and cut into the lithium battery manufacturing process. The total investment of the 10GWh high specific energy lithium battery project deployed by Pingmei National Energy is 5 billion yuan.

Industry insiders believe that solid-state batteries are expected to solve the problem of low energy density and improve the safety of batteries. All-solid-state lithium secondary batteries are expected to enter the end market in 2020. With the improvement of comprehensive technical indicators such as cyclability, rate, high and low temperature, and safety, the application of solid-state batteries in the electric vehicle market will gradually expand.
