New technology improves the safety of lithium battery -Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment

Recently, the Watt Laboratory of Huawei Central Research Institute announced at the 57th Japanese Battery Conference that it had achieved a major research breakthrough in the field of lithium-ion batteries and launched the first high-temperature and long-life graphene based lithium-ion battery in the industry. The experimental results show that the new high-temperature technology based on graphene can increase the upper limit service temperature of lithium ion batteries by 10 ℃, and the service life is twice that of ordinary lithium ion batteries. The industry said that one of the biggest difficulties in smart phones is the poor battery life. Once graphene based lithium ion batteries are combined with fast charging technology, the "short life" phenomenon of smart phone batteries is expected to be solved. At the same time, new technology makes lithium batteries more resistant to high temperatures and improve safety.(Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment)

Recently, the Watt Laboratory of Huawei Central Research Institute announced at the 57th Japanese Battery Conference that a major research breakthrough has been achieved in the field of lithium-ion batteries, and the first high-temperature and long-life graphene based lithium-ion battery in the industry has been launched.

Breakthrough mainly comes from three aspects

According to Dr. Li Yangxing, the chief scientist of Huawei Watt Laboratory, the technical breakthrough of graphene based high-temperature lithium-ion battery mainly comes from three aspects: adding special additives to the electrolyte to remove trace water and avoid the high-temperature decomposition of the electrolyte; The modified large single crystal ternary material is selected as the positive pole of the battery to improve the thermal stability of the material; At the same time, graphene, a new material, can realize efficient heat dissipation between lithium ion batteries and the environment.

Dr. Li Yangxing said, "The charge and discharge test under high temperature environment shows that under the same working parameters, the temperature rise of the graphene based high-temperature lithium-ion battery is 5 ℃ lower than that of ordinary lithium-ion batteries; the capacity retention rate still exceeds 70% after 2000 cycles at 60 ° C; the capacity loss is less than 13% after 200 days of storage at 60 ° C". It is reported that this research result will bring innovation to the energy storage business of communication base stations. The service life of the external base station using the high-temperature lithium ion battery in hot areas can reach more than 4 years. The graphene based lithium-ion battery will also help electric vehicles to last in high temperature environments, as well as the safe flight of unmanned aerial vehicles under high temperature heating.

It is understood that the current "lithium battery" is a type of battery with lithium metal or lithium alloy as cathode material and non-aqueous electrolyte solution. Lithium batteries can be roughly divided into two categories: lithium metal batteries and lithium ion batteries. Some insiders believe that Huawei's graphene based lithium ion battery is still a lithium ion battery.

Mobile phone battery life is longer

At the 56th Japanese Battery Conference last year, Huawei Watt Lab released the fast charging technology that can charge 48% of the 3000mAh battery in 5 minutes, which attracted extensive attention from the lithium battery and mobile phone industries. According to Dr. Li Yangxing, Huawei's fast charging battery has been commercially available and will officially release a super fast charging mobile phone at the end of December this year. This mobile phone uses the super fast charging technology released by the Watt Laboratory of Huawei Central Research Institute last year.

For Huawei's launch of the industry's first high-temperature and long-life graphene based lithium ion battery, the industry believes that if the battery is combined with the fast charging technology, the battery life of smart phones will be greatly improved, completely satisfying many mobile phone users who can still keep their mobile phones powered for a long time after using a variety of applications. At the same time, because Huawei's new technology can make lithium batteries more suitable for high temperature environments, lithium batteries used in technology products such as mobile phones and laptops can be more "heat-resistant" and their safety has been improved.
