The University of Bologna in Italy released news that after 8 years of hard work, researchers at the school have developed a new semi-solid oxygen flow lithium battery NESSOX. With an energy density of up to 1 MWh/ton, it can be recharged in minutes by replacing the liquid electrolyte inside the battery, just like a car "refueling". The battery uses a new type of liquid electrolyte, which can effectively inhibit the formation of substances that cause battery failure and maintain stable battery performance. This new type of high-energy density semi-solid lithium-oxygen battery shows excellent characteristics.

The energy density of the battery is much higher than that of current commercial battery products, that is, it can be quickly charged by replacing the liquid electrolyte, or it can be charged with a traditional power source, bringing a new direction for the development of electric vehicle batteries. According to relevant information from the University of Bologna, the battery can support the car's range of more than 600 kilometers, and the current cost is 150€/kWh. Based on the excellent performance and application prospects of NESSOX, the project has won several awards such as the Italian National Innovation Award. The University of Bologna has established a company called Bettery and is looking for partners to raise funds to promote the application development of NESSOX.
